WHAT DID WE LEARN?

When it comes decoding full resolution Blackmagic RAW frames, having a powerful CPU and GPU makes a significant difference.

Head scratcher: Why is the Pro Vega II Duo in the 2019 Mac Pro so much slower than the dual Radeon VIIs and dual Radeon RX 5700 XTs? Even the Dual FirePro D700s in the 2013 Mac Pro are faster than the Duo! We have asked Blackmagic to comment on the disparity. They agreed to look into it. When they respond, we will post their explanation. (Still waiting for a response.)

We welcome readers to email us a screenshot of their 8K 12:1 bitrate results using the free Blackmagic RAW Speed Test so we can expand this page to include more Mac examples like we did with Cinebench 20.
