Pro W6800 versus RX 6000 series GPUs in the 2019 Mac Pro

We tested the Pro W6800 to see how it compared to the RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT GPUs.

WHAT DID WE LEARN?

The AMD Radeon Pro W6800 GPU can't keep up with the RX 6900 XT or RX 6800 XT -- even though it is has twice the memory (32GB vs 16GB). And it is no bargain at the current prices.

We used a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter to connect the Pro W6800 to our Dell UP2715K display. I've ordered additional mini DisplayPort dongles so that I can connect two DisplayPort cables to the Dell to get 5K.

We also ran the tests (except Warhammer) using a LG UltraFine 5K display connected to the Pro Vega II Duo. The W6800 ran at the same speeds as when it was connected to the Dell display.
