Updated Nov 7th with 2.53GHz MacBook Pro and 2.4GHz MacBook 'late 2008' results.
In response to your many pleadings, in this article we compare the 2.8GHz MacBook Pro* to various previous MacBook Pros going back to 2006. We used some CPU intensive benchmarks that utilize all available cores.

INSIGHTS
The "late 2008" 15" 2.8GHz MacBook Pro is incrementally faster than previous MacBook Pros in terms of CPU intensive actions.
HOWEVER, just in case you had the false impression that a 2.8GHz MacBook Pro equals a 2.8GHz Mac Pro, we included results for a 4-core and 8-core Mac Pro. If your critical tasks involve apps that utilize all available cores, we just wanted you to know that the Mac Pro will leave any MacBook Pro in its dust.
We wish we could have run After Effects and Compressor on all of the above but some were borrowed and could not be upgraded with enough memory to make those results meaningful. We do plan a follow-up comparing the fastest MacBook Pro to the fastest iMac to the fastest Mac Pro running memory and CPU intensive apps like After Effects CS4, Photoshop CS4, and Compressor 3. Stay tuned.
