Analysis of New iPhone 3G S

Posted Wed, June 19th, by rob-ART morgan, mad scientist

In case you are standing in line today at an Apple Store, I wanted to say a few things about the new iPhone 3G S.

1. I'd love to get the new iPhone 3G S, but I don't qualify for the discount until December 29, 2009. As an 'early adopter' of both previous models, I'm not feeling the love. I paid $599 for the first iPhone in June 2007 and $299 for the iPhone 3G in July 2008. Now I have to pay $499 for the iPhone 3G S unless I'm willing to wait 6 months. Grrr.

2. If you don't want to stand in line, you can order the new iPhone 3G S and get FREE shipping from the Apple Store USA.

3. On Monday, June 22nd, my good friend and iPhone guru, Mark Booth, helped me do some benchmarking. We compared the performance of the iPhone 3G before and after then 3.0 software update. Then we compared the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 3G S with both running the newest software. See the results of our testing.
