Mac 1.25GHz MP versus others
page THREE on 9/26/02 with FileMaker 6, Bryce 5,
and "crunch + copy" tests.
FileMaker Pro do NOT take advantage of the G4
Velocity Engine or Dual Processorss.
Cinema 4D is
interesting. It is aware of dual G4's but doesn't
use AltiVec code... at least in my test.
The next two
graphs show the effect on each computer when a
network transfer is taking place simultaneous to
the running of an application:
Note in the
Cinema 4D graph above, the DDR 1GHz G4 beats the
SDR 1GHz G4 by 22%. The 1.25GHz G4 beats the SDR by
Note in Quake3
graph above, the DDR 1GHz G4 beats the SDR 1GHz G4
by 19%. The 1.25GHz G4 beats the SDR by 35%. So the
DDR Macs prove to have better throughput when
multiple subsystems are involved (such as Disk +
Network + Graphics + CPU)
