What does Geekbench CPU and Metal tests reveal when we compare the fastest 2018, 2017, and 2016 MacBook Pro 13-inch to the 2018 iPad Pro 3rd Generation?
GRAPH LEGEND
iPad Pro Gen3 = 2018 iPad Pro 12.9in, A12X Bionic processor, Apple 7-core GPU
iPhone XS Max = 2018 iPhone XS Max, A12 Bionic processor, Apple GPU
MacBook Pro 13in '18 = 2018 MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2.7GHz i7-8559U processor, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 GPU
MacBook Pro 13in '17 = 2017 MacBook Pro 13-inch, 3.5GHz i7-7567U processor, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 GPU
MacBook Pro 13in '16 = 2016 MacBook Pro 13-inch, 3.3GHz i7-6567U processor, Intel Iris Graphics 550 GPU
Geekbench CPU Multi-Core
The OVERALL score is a combination of integer, floating-point, and memory performance. (HIGHEST Score = FASTEST)
Geekbench GPU Metal Compute
The GPU various tests range from image processing to computer vision to number crunching. (HIGHEST Score = FASTEST)
WHAT DID WE LEARN?
Based on Geekbench CPU Multi-Core score, the iPad Pro Gen3 is slightly slower than the fastest 2018 MacBook Pro 13-inch, but faster than the fastest 2017 and 2016 MacBook Pro 13-inch.
However, based on the Geekbench Metal GPU Compute score, the iPad Pro Gen3 is faster than the fastest 2018, 2017, and 2016 MacBook Pro 13-inch.
Note, also, that the iPhone XS Max beats the fastest 2017 and 2016 MacBook Pro 13-inch in the CPU test but comes in last in the Metal GPU test.
